IIHS #Shorts: Convertible crash tests

IIHS doesn’t evaluate a lot of convertible models, but we did a full group back in 2007 in our original moderate overlap test. Four of the models shown here – the Vovo C70, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Chrysler Sebring, and Volkswagen Eos – earned good ratings, while the Ford Mustang and Pontiac G6 rated only acceptable.

You can tell how the structure is weaker bc of the lack of the roof plus B and C pillars, the whole thing just bending... scary shit 😬

I remember when these came out- the good ol’ days of IIHS. 😎 Saab, Volvo and VW and surprisingly Chrysler did well.

One of these days someone will have a defect in their design that allows for a windshield to fold down into someones eyes as the crash occures.
