One alternative trick I've been practicing is hiding a third king in my hand griping it mi pinkie ring finger and middle finger, then instead of doing the fake out toss, I'd drop the third king instead and quickly hiding the ace in the same place as I had hid the third king, making the disappear completely when you flip the cards, then, from that position, you can try a basic "card appearing out of thin air" trick with the ace, with the audience having no idea how or when you separated the ace from the deck nor where the third king came from.
