I also learned the biggest chunk of my IT knowledge at the helpdesk and field work- how to explain things in layman's terms, how to communicate with people, problem solving on the go, etc. Never knock the medial jobs- that's where the learning really starts :)

I been working in IT for over 20 years. I obtained my first cert this month Azure Cloud Fundamentals. I am leaning toward working on my CCNA next with hopes of Security plus later. I study a few hours a day over several months. I am thinking about looking at a couple of topics at a time. IT is so vast that sometimes learning and studying brings in new topics that are related and beneficial. I am mostly into coding, networking and system admin. Studying for the cloud reintroduced how important networking is and needed in my growth as a developer.

I'm currently studying for the Network +. Passed A+ last week. I've found that studying heavily from 2 sources is the best. Studying from one course wasn't working well for me because its good to get things explained in different ways / learn new things that the other course never talked about. Studying from too many resources is counter-productive for me..just information overload and no sense of structure.

You made some excellent points in your video. I looked back over my Comptia A+ (220-1001 /220-1002) and compared it to the information in my network plus and security plus textbooks and the knowledge certainly does build. I certainly have forgotten things.
