Putin announces partial military mobilisation in address to Russia

Vladimir Putin has announced a partial mobilisation for the country's military campaign in Ukraine.

Speaking to his nation for the first time since Russian troops invaded Ukraine in February, the President also accused the West of engaging in "nuclear blackmail".

I am very sure the mobilisation will be strategically selective so people in Moscow and other big cities will not be affected other than marginally. The mobilisation will most certainly mainly affect rural regions and small towns so it will be easy to control peoples reactions and thereby weakening the threat of opposition.
