I've used three before, it was really overwhelming, moving from Google Docs to Apples Pages, to Microsoft Word. I'm using Microsoft Word because of how complete and efficient it is compared to the two.

I have written both a thesis and a dissertation in word and I can say "it was a nightmare" both times. I would without a doubt recommend pages for scientific writing, especially if you are working with many figures, tables, lines of code, etc... I know this video only covers pages but when it comes to presentations, keynote is also far superior. The only microsoft app I would say is clearly better is excel over numbers. Yet even then, when doing data analysis and statistical analysis you only need a .csv file so it wouldn't affect you either. Very good video!!

Pages are the best hands down and I’m saying this as a former die hard windows user and Google documents have obsolete UI that is difficult to understand.

The other thing is that pages has arguably the same amount of reach as word when it comes to collaboration, since iPhones are more popular now and you can run pages on iPhone and iPad very well

Microsoft Word is the standard in the business world.

Libre Office/Writer is a free alternative and multiplatform.

Honestly, this video only makes sense if you're a Mac user. Most of the times when you seem to run into problems with either Microsoft word or Google Docs it was because YOU are too used to using pages. Honestly if you need a powerful word processing software just use word, and if you feel too overwhalmed just use docs. The best part? they're compatible, unlike pages.

Excellent breakdown. I use to be all over the place using different ecosystems complicating my life. I have settled on Apples’ ecosystem for my personal use & all my devices hardware, so primarily using Pages, Numbers and keynotes. I’ve not looked back. At work, we use google workplace for collaboration and sharing and Windows PC for legacy programs that can’t run on a Mac.

I like the UI of Pages but it saves documents in Apple's proprietory format and the same goes with Google Docs. That locks you into using their apps only so got to stick to MS Office even if I don't use 90% of stuff 😑
