United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s long-delayed visit to China — including a brief meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping — has stopped strained ties from plunging further, but analysts are doubtful whether the rival powers can mend their deep divide. Dr Evan Medeiros, the Cling Family distinguished fellow in US-China Studies at Georgetown University, shares more with CNA’s Asia First.

It is absolutely appropriate if CNA makes an effort to speak to experts in China to obtain more constructive commentaries. The Anglo-saxon gentleman was not speaking in a fair manner.

It's amazing that this US expert still have the nerve to use the word 'rule based order', everyone knows it's just how US say 'our imperial rule based order'

The Chinese leadership says what it means and means what it says.
Sincere, no bluffing, double talking & acting.
Had Blinken "misbehaved" to bring out "unnecessary issues", at best he can only meet & speak to senior councilor Wang Yi, certainly no chance to have a face-to-face discussion with the top Chinese leader Xi, and would have to leave China earlier! 😊

Saying one thing, doing one thing, sounds like the US, so typical? Secretary of State, James Baker: " If you let part of Germany go, we will move NATO not an inch eastward". Nixon: " The United States would not support 'any' independence movement and asserted that Taiwan was part of China". Mike Pompeo : " We support Taiwan as a sovereign nation".

Can't CNA interview the Foreign and Law ministers again and explain why Singaporeans need to pursue the collective west's rules-based order? i.e., sanctions, freezing foreign reserves, confiscating reserves, starting wars, committing war crimes

As law-abiding and ethical as Singaporeans could be, they are.

Won't it be more balance if you also get commentary from analysts from China ?
