Tressa, I really like that you shared your Astoria story! Now I wish that I had tried some of your rye bread when you lived here. Skagen is a type of town that I would certainly enjoy.

I've had a longtime interesti in Skagen and wish to visit - I love impressionist art and Skagen is famous for it's painters who focused on the special light there. The artwork is stunning - of it's time but beautiful. How amazing that it's such a small town. Especially when you consider the scale of the fishing there. But in any case, check out Skagen painters - thank you again for sharing. What a lovely clean safe, tidy little town Skagan is. I really loved this one!

Zarko glad you enjoyed revisiting your fishing past, viewing the very large fishing boats
of Skagen.
Fish oil
is produced here
.and also a large fishing industry.
Skagen is the most northen town of Denmark,
where two different waters meet.
The whole towns houses are painted bright yellow, with orange roofs.
There are beautiful colourful wild flowers and no pollution or rubbish, it is a very clean town.

Well done. The g in Skagen is silent, so it sounds like Skayen or Skane . It gets quite busy on weekends in the summer. If you were looking for more people they can be found out on the beach where the waters meet. You get there by tractors pulling wagons. You can also visit the bunker museum which shows the German defences from WW2.

Hi Teresa and Zarko; I fully enjoy your videos and at times unfiltered comments about the locale that you're dropped in. In this episode you mentioned your 'affinity' towards the Danes, since you got your start from a Danish lady in your youth.
There are dozens of books analyzing the reasons for the Danish people coming up on top of the list of the 'happiest' people on the planet. If you're interested, I've read one such book by Helen Russel (an American journalist) who moves to Denmark with her husband who is promoted to be a Lego executive. The book is quite an easy read and depicts many interesting (read peculiar for North American) Danish customs and life-styles....Enjoy.

Notice how many boutiques, restaurants wine and ice-cream shops there are in Skagen that only have 7, 476 inhabitants, but it's kind of typical for Denmark that small towns have vastly more good restaurants and shopping opportunities than a likewise small town in the USA or elsewhere.

Skagen is where the Baltic sea and the North seas meet. The light is different here and artists like to paint at Skagen, because of that. There are many different land formations for artists to paint with the special clear light.

Please do as Dragør and make it impossible for cruiseship turist to visit. It's absolutely the most damaging form of tourism. Dragør even fought hard not to become a world heritage site. Only because of cruise ships tourist.
