My mother loves jewelry. One day, she went to the flea market, one of her favorites places, and bought a box of costume jewelry for $5. There was a silver and cubic zirconia ring in the box that she particularly liked and was the reason she bought the whole thing. Unfortunately, the ring didn't fit her, so she brought it to a jeweler to have it resized. While resizing it, the jeweler became frustrated when the silver wouldn't adhere to the band. When he realized why, he fixed it, then shouted to his staff, "Put this in the safe!!" He called my mother the next morning before they even opened and told her she had to come in to get it because he didn't have the insurance to keep something like that in his shop. It turned out to be platinum and diamond! The ring was valued at more than $75, 000!

I found a book about spirituality from a small thrift store. Inscribed in the first page (usually blank) I was surprised to see it had belonged to my mother, who had passed away a few years earlier. She had written her name....so of course I bought it and treasure it. Interesting book, by the way .

Not at a thrift store, but one day on my way to the library I found over $200+ in $20's scattered around infront of me on the ground. I was first surprised no one else was trying to grab it, despite it being wet from rain. I then very quickly and carefully picked it up and took it home to dry. Then paid bills and spent some on me... It came when I was broke and needed it the most.

I once found a painted enamel box I had made myself in a thrift store. I bought it for $3, a small price to recover a piece of my past.

I went to goodwill one day to look for a present for my mom when I was 14. I found a Chanel purse and bought it for 5.00. When mom got it she freaked out because it still had the original French tags in it and the product serial number inside-which means it was an original. Got the purse priced and it's worth 6 grand easy. Lucky day! And mom still has it. :p

$7, 000 for an original Picasso that was also signed? He pretty much gave that away for nothing. He could have gotten much more from a private collector. They pay major bucks for things like that.

Amazing what is out there waiting to be found.
I recently was out looking for mcm pieces.
A buddy of mine and I hit some Curiousity Stores and Pawn Shops.
End of the day we went into a New and Vintage Lighting Store.
Everything there was Traditional Style. Not my thing. As we walked out I asked the owner if possibly they had anything in the back that was Vintage that didn't fit in with their Traditional Style they sold at this store.
He said he might. Returning after a couple minutes he was carrying these really cool lamps. They were Atomic Age. Possibly from the 50's to 70's.
They were 8 Tiered Chrome Eyeball Lights on seperate black enameled stems rising from a chrome and wood base.
I bought them immediately for $80.
After a bunch of research online. I believe they are designer
Goffero Reggiano (sp)
Table lamps from the late 60's. They are priced at $3800.
