Donald Trump LIVE: Immigration Activists Call on Congress to Oppose Trump Deportation Plans
Pro-immigration activists held a press conference at the US Capitol on Tuesday (December 17) calling on US lawmakers to reject President-elect Donald Trump's plans for mass deportations. A few days back, Trump told TIME magazine that he will use the US military to the fullest extent of the law to support his mass deportation effort, committing to his plan to utilise troops to try to remove record numbers of immigrants in the US illegally. When asked about a US law that generally prevents the military from being used in domestic law enforcement, Trump said illegal immigration amounted to an invasion that needed to be stopped.
