being adopted is a blessing. There’s always those jokes and memes about siblings joking about the others being adopted. But there’s nothing wrong with that. Both my parents were adopted into loving family’s. Adoption is a sign of trust and true love. I love you guys <3

My little brother is now 12, and I’m 23 still deemed adoptable because I have a disability we still haven’t gotten our forever family yet but we are gonna get it! This made me cry. You and your husband are angels and heros. People don't understand mental health is so important and it's not made up thing. Nor is it something to feel ashamed of. I suffer from ADHD, severe PTSD, severe depression and severe anxiety. Some days are good yet some days feel impossible. I'm 37 and finally started talking about my mental health more. I don't hide it nearly as much as I used too and it's been a lot better for me. Your son is a beautiful young man and deserves the world. My heart goes out to him. I will pray for him.

I worked at a pediatric residential treatment facility in Upstate NY. The children there had very heavy behavioral and emotional needs. Many were in foster care. Many were deemed unadoptable. These facilities are not the answer. Placing maladapted reactive children in an understaffed building with 50 more maladapted and reactive children is a recipe for further trauma. These facilities are not the best solution for the child. They are the what we’ve come up with to catch the children that have fallen so far through the cracks that they are so disoriented they cannot function in society. The answer is solving the societal factors that lead each child to these situations. The answer is stable loving and knowledgeable families where day to day life is representative of life in the public community. The answer is healthcare that includes normalizing the use of mental health resources. Alicia, thank you for the work you do. It is valued far greater than anyone can imagine. Stay well, and don’t forget to rest those angel wings when needed.
