Michael Schumacher was still at the peak of his powers when he retired from F1 for the first time in 2006, so why did he do it? One of his many reasons was because he didn't want to force Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa back onto the sidelines

And you can now play as both Schumacher and Massa, who appear as several names featured in the new Legendary Drivers update to the F1 Clash game!

Many people don’t know this. But Kimi was offered a Ferrari contract for 2003 onwards. The contract was offered in 2001 during his rookie year at Sauber. The deal was for him to stay at Sauber Petronas in 2002 before joining Ferrari in 2003. Hakkinen advised Kimi the better option was to sign for McLaren as he would be given a clear number 1 position and not have to play second fiddle to Michael.

The epitome of "you got me in the first half, not gonna lie"

Nahh, the real reason is because the race is shoving ads onto us in this shorts. Skip this video folks 😂

Luca DiMontezemolo thought Schumacher had too much power at Ferrari and Schumacher was also using the Ferrari logo on his own merchandise and not paying Ferrari enough (if any) royalties. The merchandise was making Schumacher tens of millions per year alone alongside his insane contract and other personal sponsors.

more like Luca di Montezemolo was the real cause of Schumacher's retirement

Hate how he lived through deadly years in F1 to more or less die skiing.

Wish Michael had never been injured I miss the interviews with him, specially getting his thoughts on what’s happened since he’s been in ill health!

Is there no rule or law against this flagrant shameless kind of advertising in Shorts? I mean it so obvious, yet I don’t see markings of any sorts.

The Race, this is honestly disgusting. Just tell us it’s an ad or skip that part please. 🤮

Im a Schumacher fan and I know that he was worried about kimi joining in 2007. Him caring about massa, which he did, was not the reason why he left. He just didnt want to get his legacy tainted when kimi came which is a shame cause i think he still would have beat kimi in the same team

Never made it back without traction control. That’s the really difficult thing with these cars, the drivability.

Partly pushed out and partly reluctant to go up against Kimi

Also forgot that Massa’s manager was the team principal’s son. So Jean Todt was put in a position of his friend or his son?

Very selfless of Michael - in retrospect it’s clear he would have had two more world championships in 2007 and 2008 if he’d stayed. With everyone on Bridgestones he would have had a clear advantage over Kimi - not to mention the team on his side - and with that additional performance, not to mention without one Ferrari taking points off the other, both otherwise close championships would have been his.

Still the shumy neck fairy tail. He had already a contract with the Mercedes

If Michael decide not retire in F1 as just one more year, he will be 8th title but still help his new young Brazillian driver

And what do you mean by die? How rude and insensitive of you! He's just completely paralyzed

What a joke. His demands that his teammates not be allowed to compete against him is what stood in Massa's way. A little bit of veined charity means nothing.
