Fantastic. One detail though, "Although I'm sure some companies will release more lenses for this". Actually there are tens of thousands of Lenses that will mount on this immediately. The module uses a "C-Mount" and "CS-Mount" (C Short) standard screw mount lens. The C-Mount standard has been around since 1926 for 16mm film cameras and I'd suspect that the original 94 year old lenses would work. Basically just look for any C-mount or CS-mount rated for a 1/2.3" format or larger. But the "sensor format" is very important to check on such lenses. This specifies the size of the sensor and if you buy a C-Mount lens with a smaller format size you will get the edges of your image cut off. You can also get a wide variety of adapters to mount anything from a DSLR lens to an astronomical telescope. In fact one of the first things I'm going to slap my module on is an 8' Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope.

NOTE: The camera port on the Pi zero opens at a different angle to the Pi. Attempting to open it in the same way *will* result in it breaking!
Or...so I've heard. <whistle>.

The Micro Center near me has an arcade/emulation area with "As used by ETA PRIME" on products, lol

It kinda becomes like old school photography.... Instead of messing with chemical, we mess with codes now.

Wow! I am blown away by the quality of the sensor and the two lenses. All we need now is a specialized Polaroid style case with an integrated high quality anti-glare screen to be used as a viewfinder and throw in some buttons for some manual focusing and a few for customization. Sounds like a potential Kickstarter project ;)

I'm thinking about a portable setup too. PI4, USBC battery pack strapped to the leg(s) of the tripod. I'll make a Ad-Hoc wifi on the Pi, use VNC on my phone to connect to the PI, so my phone will be the "screen" of the PI.

This would be really cool to see done as a dedicated Pi camera with a nice case specific for shooting!

Hey man, I just wanted to say over the past 2 years you’ve been inspiring me do raspberry pi projects, and I’ve basically watched every video on your channel, old and new. Every time you upload I’m always there watching, and I always find your voice calming to listen to when watching these videos. Just figured I’d take the time since I’m here so early to tell you.

I love your sponsor. Micro Center is Geek Heaven. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to seeing more on the new camera. Maybe a surveillance setup?

When doing any focus adjustment you should open the aperture all the way to compensate for depth of field. Sharp focus in a bright scene will be soft in low light if you don't.

I Love Microcenter. That is where I have gotten all my Pi stuff as well as my tinkerboard. As well as PC parts (between them and Newegg) they have excellent deals in the store. As always love your videos and glad you got an Awesome sponsor this time.

I have read about this camera just a few days ago. Placing a order for it and the telephoto lens as soon as stock is available in Canada.

I use a number of raspberry Pi’s using MotionEyesOS and I have on camera covering my backyard. With the standard V2 camera I only get a large image and can’t see the work shed that I need covered. But now with this new camera and telephoto lens I should be able to get a much better recording and still images.

With this new camera anyone that’s interested in a DIY security cameras that are self contained, independent and completely off grid can now get a much better image coverage for just a few dollars more.

Thanks again for providing this very important product review. I was holding off on buying it until I had a better understanding of its Quality and features, but now I do!

I would like to know if the camera is compatible with the jetson nano at the moment (for recording in 4K30) and if a pulse is send by default on GPO pin at the back on each new frame. Thanks!

Wow this camera is what I was looking for.
At work I might have a project where we use RPI + OpenCV + Camera to count people entering stores/supermarkets during pandemics and it would eliminate the need for some valuable personnel just counting people going in and out.
I was concerned that most of the cameras for RPI weren't very well suited for such application due to the limited resolution and optics.
This one should be perfect.
Shame that it's out of stock everywhere already :/

I absolutely love Micro Center. It is Heaven on Earth for nerds. They have everything, and their prices are unbeatable. They have the best warranties, and they stand behind the products they sell.
