I've read all seven of the Brontë sisters' books, and "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" is one of my favorites. I read it every two or three years. I never tire of it.

I have three chapters left. I have been glued to this book like an addiction. I feel it is the finest caliber in a special kind of way than the other Bronte books I’ve read.

I actually got the idea to read this from you, so thank you 🦋♥️🦋

Wildfell is my favorite Bronte sisters book too. The public loves Jane Eyre best. The literary critics like Wuthering Heights best.

This was the last Brönte sisters book I read and I thought that nothing could be better than Jane Eyre or Wuthering Heights, and as much as I love all of their works this one became my absolute favorite. The story is so intriguing, the characters are great, it's funny at times but it can get philosophical and dramatic as well and maybe it's not as poetic as the others but it's still a beautiful book. I will never understand why is this the most underrated, but I will always recommend it the most.

Anne Brontë surely deserves more love. She's so talented as her sisters.

Currently reading it. It is my 3rd Brontë sister book and my 1st by Anne. I am loving it. It should be as much recommended as Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights.

Also my favourite Bronte novel, and there's a lot of competition. The last thing I expected when I read this novel that it to be so fun and funny. I love the way the characters gossip and the drama. I found it to be like a Hollywood romantic comedy.

I agree with you.
This is the best of all the Bronte novels.
Helen is rather soft to go back and help her husband, taking a risk with her health. After all, poor little Arthur....OK, he is being looked after by her best friend but still.
I wasn't sure as to exactly how the story would good sign to a reader.
Anne also wrote Agnes Grey but because of animal cruelty I cannot Read goes for Moby Dick, Watership Down etc 😇 Yes, I am a medic but I also love animals.

Thank you so much for this review, I'm going to read it. And I loved when you said she is a strong independent religious woman, it was refreshing. I feel that sometimes there's a separation between strong/independent woman from religious woman, and it doesn't have to be the case.

This is my favourite book from the Brontes too, and my entry point. I was very young when I watched the BBC adaptation of this book. I remember reading somewhere that Anne Bronte wrote Agnes Grey as her version of Jane Eyre and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall to Wuthering Heights. Frankly. I wasn't impressed with Wuthering Heights as none of the characters are likeable and I've never understood how people romanticize the toxicity of Heathcliff. In The Tenant of Wildfell Hall there's a carthasis to Arthur's demise. All around a brilliant book.

I have never read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall but my girlfriend loves it and has read large passages to me. The dialogue - as you said - is wonderful. It really is an incredible insight into the lives of women at that time.
I actually bought my girlfriend the DVD for Christmas 😄

My first Bronte (and on your advice!) and... I loved it.! Actually, it was a bit of a page-turner for me. Great review. Thank you!

I'm looking into this one! I've found I'm more inclined to concentrate on a book when I'm not forcing myself to rigidly finish one book after the other, or strict deadlines. It's more 'I'm going to focus on this book for awhile and keep these near me, just in case.' Keeps my options open without feeling like I'm robbing myself of my love for books.

Another I need to read! Those Chiltern editions look stunning, but I'm wondering what the font size is like? Great video as usual 🙂

Thank you very much for this recommendation. I have not read this book. I have read Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë but not this one. So far my favourite Brontë's novel is Jane Eyre. Maybe this one will be even better as you indicate it. 🙂

Hello Emmelie! I hope you are well. I enjoyed your video. I also really enjoyed The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. I think it is the better of the two Ann Bronte books, but Agnes Gray was also good. Is ToWH better than Jane Eyre? I don't know. I really really enjoyed them both, but I think I lean more towards JE. I only have Villette yet to read and then I will have read all the Bronte books. I hope to get to Villette sometime this summer. I look forward to your next video. Have a great week!
