The bow is made from willow and would have been used for hunting/fishing.

Unfortunately the bowstring doesn't survive, but due to the peaty conditions of the once lake of Star Carr, the bow has survived, giving us a glimps into the sort of tools people of the Mesolithic period used.

The bow and other items from Star Carr are currently on display at the Yorkshire Museum, York
