What's the net negative of residents ignoring the ban? In the past 10+ years this law went into effect, the people of Hawaii have already proven they can celebrate with very little impact to what the law was intended to protect. Just repeal the ban. Let people celebrate. They're gonna do it whether you like it or not, ban or no ban.

Perhaps the police should focus on all the ice coming in instead of fireworks....

In South Carolina they have fireworks stores and it's legal to set it off all year. I was there for nine months and didn't hear anything. Maybe we should do the same here. I think we like the thrill of it being illegal.

I would love them pushing for programs for the young. So they dont end up, being criminals.

The war on drugs? Nah. The war on crime? Meh. The war on poverty? Blech. I know! The war on fireworks! That’s the thing everyone needs the government to focus on. SMH If you don’t like fireworks, maybe Hawaii is not the place for you.

Why waste time on Just go back to how it was in the 60's. If they do that, I'm sure it will not be a problem. Why doesn't rhoads go and sniff at the docks. I'm sure he's qualified for that. He can take takayama with him. hawaii is becoming the "no can" state. Why not put as much effort in looking for drugs or children???? Majority of the people want fireworks. Don't listen to only the ones you want.

its more like every day of the year in waipahu, no matter, they going resort to home made bombs. need to allow anonymous reporting and good cops that will follow up or react when they see fireworks, how many times, i see cops just drive pass obvious violators.

It’s about money! All the “ OTHER “ things that come in are through organized cash flow. Nobody’s benefiting from the fireworks sales. For ever and a day fireworks are part of the culture here! Let’s just regulate the shit outta Hawaii and make it a crappy place to live, , , , …. People gotta celebrate something! This is not even on the radar to problems that NEED to be addressed in Hawaii Nei! Wanna make a difference: drugs are the main source of what ales our Education, culture, and a sustainable economy for THE PEOPLE is so much more important than fireworks! Pau already, poho!

Old folks just want everything their way. Soon they'll complain about happy people being too happy, they should be sad and bitter like them.
