Physics Paper 2 - Summer 2017 - IGCSE (CIE) Exam Practice

This is a run through of an IGCSE Physics exam for CIE.
Paper 2 - Multiple choice (extended)

Q27 the answer should be C! Many thanks to Sheri George who first found this. The reasoning is the same, the rod (not the cloth) becomes positively charged because some of the electrons go elsewhere (the cloth). So the rod loses electrons.

I answered the question as if the cloth and not the rod became positively charged - key point - Read the questions carefully and double check your answers!!! (and good luck in the exam!)

I have an issue with the response to Q40. If the background radiation is subtracted you have an initial amount of 80 counts/s. After the first half - life, the count rate is 40 count/s. So why not 2 days but 4 days. After 4 days the radioactive element has decreased by 60 count/s.

sorry, but in question 27, is the rod that become positively charge not the cloth, so the rod loses electrons and the cloth gains them

you say ooh for every hard question you see yet you still manage to solve it, on the other hand we say aah knowing that we don't know how to find the answer. Keep up the great work!! <3

From the description box [because you might not have read it]:

pretty late but but the knowledge is worth it..for the logic gates there are actually mathematical notations used beside learning them....AND GATE: inputs multiplied for e.g, if the inputs are 0 0, when multiplied it becomes 0 (output)...OR GATE : inputs added for e.g inputs added for e.g 1+1 which is basically 2 but in the truth table there are two values used only, (for switch) ON:1 OFF:0. so we got to know by looking at 2 that the switch is on so we will straightaway write 1 without any hesitation...and finally for NOT GATE: if the input is 1, we will straight away inverse it, the output will be 0 then....if you dont understand the notations (formulas)...please put the inputs in the particular formulas to have a clear concept of all logic gates..THANK YOU

Hi sir, for question 12, why didn't you include the weight of the box in the equation for B and D, is it because no gravity acted on it as it wasn't lifted?

hi! sorry but question 27 is C. this is due to the fact that a non metal or a non conductor has no free electrons that means all the electrons and protons are equal so to make it positively charged it needs to lose electrons just so that there are more protons than electrons and that makes your hair stand when u get it close to your head :)

why are your question different than mine, although we have the same series of paper....
I see the questions are very similar.
I live in another country, is this why?
