This puzzle is about the problem of getting a rocket into space.
Anyway, the camel gets 200km on the first 1000 bananas that it eats. 333 km on the second 1000 bananas. 467 km remaining with 1000 bananas left, so 533 bananas at the 1000km mark (give or take 1 or 2).
