Which rubber mold did you use that looks translucent white to fill in the designs on the ring?

I am having good luck so far with Castaldo Gold, The only reason I use it is because its what my dad used though, am I living in the past? Are there big advantages to switching to silicone rubber? or is it a kinda not broke don't fix thing?
