I was privileged to be a USMC Officer Candidate in June 1972 attending OCS training at Quantico, VA when as part of that training it included a performance for us aviator destined types by the Chief Pilot of Hawker Siddeley demonstrating the AV-8A Harrier. The demonstration not only included showing the Harrier's amazing agility, but the PA system on the field was linked to the pilot who in his great British accent described every action he was taking in pulling off each maneuver. He had 100 USMC Officer candidates going crazy with excitement watching that incredible show.

Heavens.. I've been watching Harriers since 1978, both AV-8A's and AV-8B's. Amazing that they are still flying, but I'd assumed they were retired once the F-35B was serving in a lot of squadrons. It's nice to be wrong now and then. 😀

The Harrier is a very interesting jet! It looks like the USMC is looking on replacing their Harrier fleet with the F-35B in the near future, so enjoy the time this thing is still flying

Love the Harrier!! They were retired too early in my opinion from UK Military service. Should have waited until at least the F35B was in RAF/Royal Navy service

I sure hope not the AV-8B Harrier can still do a heck of a lot more than what most people might think. It can mess a lot of things up if it had to be put into combat. No one would want to mess with it at all 💯 percent guaranteed. It's truly a legendary aircraft without a doubt. Besides the F-35B there's no other aircraft out there that can relate. It's also an iconic aircraft. It does things people thought weren't possible for an aircraft to ever do. Can you imagine what it can do with upgrades.

I know it is being retired, but I would have loved to see it this year 2024 airshow. F35B and C17 demos got cancelled..

Was great to see the USMC pilot did not eject and lose this aircraft...but then, the weather was nice.

She’s got an awfully “puffy” port side engine exhaust. Can any harrier techs speak to this? THANKS! For peaking my curiosity.
