The third generation of the Toyota Yaris was introduced in 2011. In 2014 the car got a facelift and in 2017 it got a second facelift. In this video we are driving the third generation, third "facelifted" Yaris.

The main changes to the 2017 version are a new front, a new tailgate and some new colors (Hydro Blue, Lava Red). The hybrid Yaris got better sound insulation so that it became 5 dB more quiet in the cabin.

The hybrid Yaris is powered by a 1.5 liter 4-cilinder petrol engine
(74 hp/111 Nm) and an electric motor (61 hp/169 Nm). Together they have a system output of 100 hp.

The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 11,8 seconds and its top speed is 165 km/h.

On paper the car has a CO2-emission of 75 g/km and a fuel consumption of 3,3 liters per 100 km. In reality, fuel economy is closer to 4 to 5 liters.

Great idea, good vid, but hard to fully tell when it's on Elec and when it's on Motor, sometimes it's obvious with the CVT revving the engine, sometimes it appears the rev counter needle moves but can't tell fully. A version of this vid with an indicator of when on Elec only would be really useful.

I bought one, Engine is loud, slow, typical city car, 75 hp with 4.5 fuel consumption,
when it is dark and you turn on lights, you don't now in which gear you shift, because all lights glowing the same, in rainy day it is also terrible you can hear every rain drop!, If i got all thís features in previous generation yaris 1.33 with 100 hp, i wouldn't buy a new one, because there was more space in bagage, faster, reliable ect.In places where you have expensive gasoline and taxes this is the best realiable cars, because you dont need to do a lot of maintenance, i was thinking about Hyundai gdi engines, but i change my mind, because for this engines must clean exhaust valves after 60 thousand km! My favorite is BMW'S and Lexus! Good luck everyone.

I have a 2014 one, the first facelift version. Worth upgrading? Have a non-hybrid. Is the new engine any better? Great vid btw.

Cannot tell that well from the video, but does the car pull alright/better than a manual? Or just rev high and is a bit slow? Are there technical means that encourage to use the electric motor while driving slow or in a city?

How do you find the noise levels? I read that they have improved that a lot, its hard to get a sense from the video without a dB measurement and compare against others :)

Not a fan of the CVT constant rev noise when accelerating though, but if tirenoise and wind noise is reduced then thats nice

I was considering buying new Yaris hybrid, but the e-cvt gearbox is just horrible :/ it revs like mad when you trying to accelerate harder, and there's pretty intense wind noise behind the windscreen above 120km/h, which makes driving on the motorways very annoying. Toyota should have copied cvt gearbox from the new Honda Civic (2017), which is completely new transmission and a fantastic cvt experience.
