RFK Jr.: My Position On Abortion

Abortion has been a notoriously divisive issue in America, but actually I see an emerging consensus: that abortion should be legal up until a certain number of weeks, and restricted thereafter. Even in the reddest of red states, voters reject total abortion bans. And in blue states, almost no one supports third-trimester abortions except to save the life of the mother. And so I support the emerging consensus that abortion should be unrestricted up until a certain point.

But I also believe that we can reduce more abortions in America by choice than by force. This is at the heart of the “More Choices, More Life” policy we’ve developed. Every abortion is a tragedy, and by better supporting mothers, parents, and families, we can dramatically reduce abortions across the board.

this is what i love most about RFK. he is a man of reason. he keeps an open mind, listens to everyone, and is willing to change his opinion when provided with more facts/evidence.
people need to stop with such extremist black and white mindset and actually work together to find a middle ground. theres no such thing as a simple solution to highly complex issues.. i think this is the only right, fair, and sensible position.

I appreciate your moderate view as it not only resonates with my own, but it is also the perfect “middle ground” stance. It’s not all abortion all the time for any reason, nor is it no abortion none of the time for no reason. Neither extreme stance would get exactly what they want, but it’s the perfect balance and a great stance to bring both sides together.

No woman chooses to kill their own child as an ideal. RFK is going about this the right way: Rather than blaming women who can't cope with a child for going against their own nature, we can create a cultural framework where women don't have to choose between their child, motherhood and a rich life. That's on us as a country. And if we can't do that, that's where the conversation needs to be focused: How and why is one of the wealthiest countries in human history unwilling to provide the love to our children that our country needs if our population is to be maintained and our country to grow?
