This is true for every instrument, not just drums. Playing music is collaborative, not competitive

When you play lead guitar at heart but you chose the drums.

Imagine a band that’s just all drummers.

Bro I wish more people understood this principle. Not only is this for drumming, but you can apply this principle in EVERY area in life.

“Stop all that fancy shit and play like Ringo”

The bro who taught me. "A good drummer plays support for his band, like a goalie plays in hockey. A good band gives you opportunities too solo and, show off!"

My dad always said “ in music simple is sometimes more” when I was a teenager. I didn’t understand it because I just wanted to do prog metal but now I get it

It took me a few years of drumming to understand this. Drumms are a support instrument and should not take the spotlight from other band mates. That being said, most songs often give you enough space to shine without hindering the band. It's not as bad as it sounds.

Wait a minute! I thought drumming was all about chops, chops, and more CHOPS!😂

Going from the fill monger to the chill monger definitely helped me out a lot in the session world.

I love it. My drummer has this mentality. He supports the music…but also plays like an absolute maniac 😂

It's the groove! The pocket! It's what makes you bounce, and Bob your head!

It's about elevating the song and the whole band, not anyone in particular. Drums are for support, but this also applies to all instruments

I think this applies not only to drums but also to other instruments😉

Drums are about keeping time. In music usually less is more its gotta be tasty. Ive seen my dad (bass player) actually take the sticks out of the drummers hands multiple times. I was like whoa but now i understand. Drums are the heart(beat) of the band

Yup it’s the tough truth, I’m still learning this

This goes for us bassists too. Still I think bands should have more bass and drum features.

That’s with any instrument in a group though. Not just drummers

It’s called listening, and it applies to everyone in a band environment

What a blanket statement across all genres. That drum solo is definitely about the bassist.
