IMAF 2020 - Valeria Barbas, Moldova – “Windows”

International Multimedial Art Festival – IMAF is an annual event dedicated to performance art. International Festival of Multimedial Arts – IMAF has created a context in which different artists of various nationalities and age come together and, through their individual work, create a variety of research and suggestions on the medium of body and performance. As such, IMAF is not merely a festival, but a place where new ideas and conditions of performance, in the broader sense of art, become evolutionarily classified and researched. This makes it progressive and proactive, a space focused solely on developing new thoughts and ideas.

Valeria Barbas, (born 1984) is a composer and multi-media artist, based in Chişinău, Republic of Moldova. She studied for a B.A.(2001-2006) and a M.A.(2006-2008) in composition, Academy of Music, Theatre and Art, Chişinău, R. Moldova, Electronic music courses with M. Afanasiev (2005-2006). In 2004-2008 she also studied for a BA in singing and painting, State Pedagogical University „I. Creangă”. Lecturer at Academy of Music, Theatre and Art, R. Moldova (2014-2015).Currently, she is a researcher at the Institute of Cultural Heritage, Academy of Sciences, RM. V.Barbas is a member of the Moldovan Union of Composers and Musicologists, Moldovan Union of Painters, Moldovan Association of woman in cinematography ANTHILL. 2017 – PhD in study of art and culturology. 2018- Author of 32 scientific articles, and a book about new music in Republic of Moldova from 1991- to 2018, ARC Publishing House, Chisinau 2019. Director/concept author of Tv program Zona Ars at public Tv MOLDOVA
( 2019-present).
Collaborates as artist since 2008 with KSAK- Center for Contemporary Art, and Oberliht Young Artists Association.
Having a musical background approaching subjects of sound, time, space and body become of certain interests.
