I tiled my floor in pennies and somehow ended up on the Today Show for it. This was the video you all shared.

So, about $1, 60 per square foot. Thats actually cheaper than a lot of tile, and it looks fantastic. At first I was thinking I would have treated them all in vinegar to shine them up, but after seeing your results I think the color contrast looks better. Congratulations, fantastic work.

what if you sell the house would that include the flooring?

Would have been nice to see how you applied the resin/Polyurethane to finish the floor.

According to Coin Week a 1944 steel penny in AU-53 (About Uncirculated) grade sold for $37, 375 last year. Considering they didn't show the date in the Today show bit I'm doubtful it's a 44. Plus they glued it to the floor but they could still make a few grand. The 1873 Indian Cent in it's condition according to the grey sheet is less than $15.

i do flooring and to me that isnt a clear coat, he just took pictures after he grouted and the floor is still wwet when he filmed so it looks like a finish, but iam sure you could find a lacker to use. IMO it looks like he used industrial grade exterior stone grout instead of tile grout.

Hey, I don't know if you realize this, or if I'm missing something, but 1944 steel cents are EXTREMELY rare - almost all steel cents were manufactured in 1943. If it really is a 1944 that you guys found, its worth hundreds of thousands of dollars...

It's a floor...All floors have bacteria on them. You can clean... and $390.00 isn't bad for a floor you want...Penny's is a Great Idea.... Go out and price tile or laminate...

Is the floor difficult to clean, or is it pretty much the same as any hard floor? It doesn't look like it'd be too hard to clean if you guys used a sturdy finish.

I want to do this when I get my own place. Are the pennies all facing heads up?

I saw it calculated somewhere else... it's about $2.70 per square foot (for the pennies), which is cheaper than a lot of tile or other flooring options.
