As the Crytpo market undergoes another cycle of hype, a new platform (Pump.Fun) has risen to the surface as the gimmick/gambling fix that speculators often crave.

"Memecoins" are now a mechanism to either make it big, or lose everything, and with a platform that perfectly facilitates shocking behavior, a rare portal was opened between the Dark Web, and the surface that we all use daily.

In a predictable outcome, the platform has now shut down its livestreaming features, but today we examine the Pump.Fun disaster, how it happened, and where it came from.

If you give money to a 12 year old, whose parents are letting him run free on the internet, I mean that's just economic Darwinism.

“Shocking”
No that’s not shocking, shock implies surprise. I’m not surprised I’m just disgusted.

We live in a boring cyberpunk dystopia.
None of the cool stuff like laser guns, mature time bots, or fully immersive virtual worlds.
But all the bad stuff is here.

Where the fck are the 12 year olds parents? Unregulated access to the internet at such a young age should not be so normal

Sorry you had to research this, but I appreciate your effort.

This story isn't about greed but about psychopaths inspired by greed to showcase their depravity. Normal empathic people wouldn't engage in this type of harmful behaviour for money. Those without a conscience would do it purely for fun, the money being just a bonus for them.

The root cause of very bad behavior is not the tool you choose to behave badly with but the will (lack of morality) you have to do it and lack of fear of the consequences.

I lament how "adpocalypse" has become a lowercase word.

You know that moment in fiction when the dark dimension/hell merges with our world ? Yeah, this feels like that

to be honest this is the future if Visa and mastercard, what is the most common card and money transfer in the world, if they continue blocking and banning content, art and stupid things from people and companies, then more of this crypto stuff will appear and be 'normalised'...
Basically, if you cant make money for your work because someone in these company doesn't like it, the more you might find something else, even if its alittle more dangerous...

this is what anarchocapitalism would look like. there's a reason we put some restraints on markets.

So is parenting dead in the US? IDK, I am pretty sure my mom would disown me if I did anything like that. My mom is the type to return excesses change that a cashiers accidentally give her.

Jesus. As soon as you said it enabled live streaming i knew that would open the door to unrestrained evil. All for money. There's no integrity and shame left in such a frighteningly large amount of people nowadays.

The dark web refers to special overlay networks created using nonstandard software. The biggest examples are Tor, I2P, Hyphanet with other minor examples including Lokinet, Tribler/IPv8, Riffle and others.

"Holding a firearm to a fish"
Goddamn I love the Internet, for worse or better. Holding a Firearm to a Fish is just so funny to me.

I could've gone my whole life without knowing about what depths humanity is willing to sink for money and be a happier person for it... Guess there is such a thing as "knowing too much".
