Troubleshooting an RV Water Heater (4 COMMON Issues)

No hot water in your RV or camper? It might be a simpler fix than you think. Before you throw out the whole water heater along with the bath water, try these 4 fixes. (#1 worked for us!)

I got my new to me rv for about 45 days, and the hot water was only luke warm. IT WAS THE BY-PASS VALVE WIDE OPEN. I thought i was going to have to do something drastic. Thanks for the eeeeasy fix. I just subscribed

Great tip on making sure the outdoor shower valves are off so the hot and cold water don't mix. REV RV in Coburg Oregon (terrible experience) left my valves on after winterizing and dewintwinterizing (which I was forced to do and never do since we use the coach all year) and it took me hours to figure it out. Thank you!

Hey Jake! I hope you see this comment. First off, thank you so much for this video!!! I now have running hot water after 11 months of going without. I've watched countless of videos trying to figure out why my water wasn't staying hot! I bet you're wondering what the reason is! The bypass valve was open!!! I had a leak, and replaced the pipes under the sink and had no clue the bypass valve was supposed to be closed. This video came right on time because it is extremely too cold to be taking cold showers!

I just replaced my heating element because of the lukewarm water (turns out the element was bad, like busted and corroded with no resistance on my multimeter). After replacing, I would get really hot water for a few seconds and then lukewarm. It was my bypass valve…still open from dewinterizing my travel trailer… ugh! Thank you for the quick fix!

Thanks so much. I was getting warm water not hot. I have 2 valves in a 3 valve position. My bypass valve would turn off completely. Cheers for that trouble shooting.
