This woman was learning Hindi for her boyfriend, who wanted her to get to know his Indian culture. However, he didn’t know that she was taking it seriously. So she decided to surprise him when he got home from work. When she asked the guy how his day was in Hindi, he was dumbstruck. After a few moments, when he answered, and she responded in Hindi again, his reaction was priceless.

They say to get a man’s heart, you gotta go through his stomach but what they didn’t tell you is to go through his tongue. Whatever his mom’s first language is (mother tongue) will also win his heart. I experimented this with my hubs and he was blown away. So ladies- stomach and tongue!

When you are in an intercultural relationship, a green flag is when you both learn at least the basics from each other's native language.

A red flag is, when one forces his/her language only without any attempt to learn the language of the partner. A huge red flag, actually. As, this means that the person does not care to have a real connection with the partner's family and culture.

My husband and I taught each other our languages, so now we are able to communicate with both our in-laws, friends, etc. and enjoy both our cultures fully. Eg. we watch movies, documents, read articles, books, etc. in both languages, although we firstly spoke English together. Before learning our native languages.
