Who designs a speaker with holes all the way thru the cabinet for feet? That in itself screams incompetence in design. The holes won't likely make any appreciable difference in amplitude response above bass frequencies, but the impedance measurement may be slightly different.

Tekton have just done more damage their brand than the worst review they could imagine.

No chance I ever buy a Tekton product after discovering how the owner handles these things. Never. There are too many other good products out there that don't weaponize litigation to quell dissent.

As I said in an ASR thread about this, I am in the market for new fronts and would not even consider Tekton based on the company's behavior at this point. I no longer care how their products perform. I simply would not do business with this guy.

This guy at Tekton should be ashamed of himself. Not a proper way to respond to a reputable reviewer. Especially when the review wasn't even negative! This method of response will shed more negative light on the company then any "bad" review.

Erin called Tekton before measuring the speakers to ask if he needed to know anything before setting them up. No one told him he needed to install the feet. What a joke.

The way that Eric/Tekton dealt with this review was a monumental fumble.

A less than ideal result from Klippel measurements by Amir or Erin don't have a negative effect on a speakers' sales. See Amir's review of the Magnepan LRS, Klipsch RP600M, etc classifying them as broken. Those speakers are hot sellers. Most consumers are not looking at spinorama data to make a purchasing decision.

Eric threw a tantrum for nothing. And after seeing how he conducts himself, I cannot ever see myself in the market for a Tekton speaker. And I'm sure many others now feel the same way. Streisand effect all the way.

IMO Tekton has done more damage to their brand in the last few days than any bad review could have ever done. This is being talked about on every audio forum and yet Tekton hasn't taken a clue. They really need to come out and say, "Yeah, we f'd up and are going to make it right". Instead the guy who is making the big decision is being stubborn in the path he chose while the brand, creditability, and what customer base they have left goes up in flames. Crazy! I for one will NEVER buy a pair of their speakers. If they act like this over measurements, then it really makes me wonder what else they are hiding.

I would NEVER, EVER purchase a Tekton product because of these ridiculous threats. Absolutely uncalled for.

Example of how to handle it is Cambridge audio CEO reaching out to Amir, surprised how CXA81 amp tested. They sent another unit and there was an issue with usb ground switch lift. He remeasured and had results in line with what CA got themselves. Amir applauded them for help to resolve the issue. Win win. Clearly Cambridge audio cares about how the product performs and reviewer is willing make things right

This sets a dangerous precedent for ALL reviewers.
To not be able to freely speak their mind and give their opinions is bad for all of us.

He’s been like this for years. I thought about buying a set of his speakers back in 2017. After reading up on his company and reading stuff on Eric I completely changed my mind. I got a chance to hear them 2 years later and felt so blessed I never bought his products. Definitely not someone I would ever buy anything from.

Wow, just wrote off this brand. This dude needs to grow up.

Hey Tekton how’s that Streisand effect working for you? Your response does more harm than the measurements.

Much respect to Youthman, Amir, Gene, and all the consumers who are standing up against this bully. I will never consider a Tekton product and will make sure anyone I know is aware and stay away as well.

I'm currently in the market for new speakers, and I've been curious about Tekton for a little while, but there is no way in hell I will ever buy any Tekton product after learning about this.

I'll never touch a Tekton speaker, that's not how you act.

Well, I now know one brand I'll never be buying.

GREAT COVERAGE GUYS!!! Erin is a great and capable reviewer.. Sad that we have manufacturers playing the "Take you to court" card to someone as reliable as Erin, and Amir when it comes to measurments..And then for a manufacturer to reply in such a unprofessional manner? WOW... I also agree as a reviewer if there's something wrong with a product, or something odd, I am reaching out to the vendor prior to publishing a review. More just to eliminate it being user error. Anyway, cheers guys!! Keep up the great work. 😁End of day - We have identified a manufacture who we will never review gear for.

Erin’s review of the speakers was impeccable as per usual. He pointed out a few issues, didn’t make a huge deal of it, and the only personal statement he made was that the elevated midrange was not *his* cup of tea, but made effort to point out that he was stating his own opinion and folks should make their own opinions.

I’m less of a fan of ASR, for reasons I won’t get into here. Amir incorrectly assumed the intended vertical axis, which was in my mind a bigger error than anything Erin did. I believe that’s an easy correction though. That is an issue that a) speaker companies NEED to make more clear and b) reviewers NEED to pay more attention to. Designers ALWAYS make speakers to be listened to on or off axis, but that info rarely gets to the end user.

I have to say, Amir’s fans on the ASR forum were a whole lot more respectful to Eric Alexander than they’ve been in the past to other folks (Gene DellaSalla and Starke Sound come to mind), in spite of his unhinged behavior.

While we’re talking Tekton, Stereophile just reviewed a pair of their tricked-out Moab speakers. Stereophile isn’t as easy to push around, but the reviewer did mention that Eric was irritated that two Stereophile reviewers preferred to plug the bass ports on Tekton speakers they reviewed. The dude seems to have issues with controlling behaviors.
