Instagram is barely about photos anymore, and Meta has made annoying changes like linking your Facebook to Instagram, or trying to force you to do so. I hope TikTok does make a photo platform.

I like the idea of a separate app just for photos. That's exactly what annoys me when using other apps: that they want to have 10 things all in one. Just stick to one thing, but do that one perfectly.

A stand alone app ist BETTER than making one app for all things. Many ppl dont want videos on their feed if they are in photos. This ist one of the main reason photographers went to instagram and not to tiktok. Now you have videos on instagram and they push them. Photographers are angry because of that shit move. And yes. We need a photos only app because we do not have one. And vero was and is shit. You have no communityfeatures there and it is for photographers only not for photofans.

But for real... people get bored quickly, if you have zero control on what you see (why can't insta give you the option to only see pictures or only videos or a mix of both??) you get uninterested. I think people will give it a try, since for videos it was a great thing. We photographers for sure are so fed up with socials right now... could be a breath of fresh air

TikTok is the competitor that Meta has been fearing for many years. Their (Meta aka Facebook) endless copying of various apps such as Snapchat, Vine, TikTok and even MySpace very well could backfire in their face, which would be so satisfying to watch.

Long Form Tiktok and short form YouTube all muddy the waters... if I'm waiting for a bus, Tiktok shortform perfect, if I want to learn something Youtube longorm on my TV or iPad. Different platforms have their merits but everyone is getting greedy for the others market :( just stop it! Lets be honest here, if we think about it Facebook is the ultimate platform ….it has reels, photos, posts, live streaming and long video upload. Its basically youtube, tiktok, twitter and instagram all in one!

TikTok is splitting their users by creating a separate app. That is a marketing nightmare. It’s not an advertiser’s dream either…double paying for ads on 2 platforms that are dividing the current user base? Seems like a poor choice. It also speaks volumes of how inept their devs are if they cannot have it as one comprehensive app. The logic behind this seems to be rather illogical.
