Pigeons can do more sounds than coo.

I get a vicious wing slap from a pigeon... red with anger?

For the curious, this pigeon had an injured wing and could not fly when I found her. I kept her for about a week, I cleaned the wound and fed her well. She made a full recovery and I released her - fully recovered, she flew off. Haven't seen her since mind you, thought she'd at least call back.

I have a male king pigeon by the name of "Hope", that will do what your pigeon is doing. Usually if it is mating season, this is how the birds will act. At first when "Hope" would do this, I thought he didn't like me... I later recognized as the months passed by, that he wasn't mad or angry at me...but that it was his way of showing, it's time to mate. So now what he does, is coo, dance around, and peck at me to get my attention. So your bird is not mad or angry at you, it just wants a girlfriend or boyfriend. Hope has been doing this since February 2020 and he still does the cooing, dancing, and pecking, but he loves me!

I have 4 rescue Pigeons. I can confirm they are fantastically grumpy birds. I love them to bits though

My old cotournix quail made a weird noise almost similar to this when she was displeased. I am absolutely getting a pigeon as my next pet, they're growing on me so fast.

That's how my cockatiel acts when he is sleepy and grumpy.

The pigeon was initially just sitting still and behaving itself until it got provoked . Even though many people like to stroke animals and birds, most of them neither require nor enjoy the experience . Using aggression, this pigeon was trying to make this clear to the handler who chose to ignore its wishes . I am not sentimental about animals but they do deserved to be respected .
