I was sent to a school like this in Maryland. It made me a monster. I ended up in prison for most of my younger years. I’ve never given up hope of getting revenge on the teachers of that school. It was shut down years ago but I still day dream about revenge.

If this interest anyone, there is a online comic written by a previous student. Genuinely the saddest read I’ve ever experienced. Almost felt like fiction because of how unbelievably cruel these adults were to kids. Searching “Joe nobody, elan school comic” should get you there.

My father was sent here, luckily he decided that he was not going to end up rude like the teachers, I love him.

Earlier on, Elan had a "Cancer Room" for students who didn't "get with the program."

You'd get tossed in a room, ALONG WITH OTHER STUDENTS, and just isolated, but aside from food being delivered daily, there was no staff intervention. No matter what.

Given the populations that got sent there, there were always some kids who had faced abuse incl S.A. going back as far as they can remember. Some of these kids had now grown to be very large, paired with their aggression and trauma, they were truly dangerous

So, you're a 13 year old girl, and you get tossed in the cancer room for mouthing off... And you're in there with Steve, whose history conforms to that pattern of abuse I described.

He takes all the food, eating literally all of it, so you get nothing to eat for, you know, three days, save for some crumbs you pick up

But, you're also getting S.A.ed for days on end, but a brutal, angry, and hateful monster with the uh, "vitality" of a young teen. So, 100 attacks in 72 hours.

After that, you're broken... Broken for life, mostly likely. We aren't as psychically durable as you might think. Kids would survive this, but they'd never be able to integrate back into society ever again.

My sister went here in the mid 90s. She's no longer with us and I blame this place for her issues later in life. She would wake up in the middle of the night screaming she was back there. It never stopped affecting her.

A few corrections about this video: "The Ring" wasn't even in a real boxing ring. It actually comprised of two combatants in boxing gloves, and a bunch of students making a circle to prevent anyone in the ring from getting away. As for the people yelling out insults to someone, that's either an encounter group (where people sat in a circle and one of them got up to yell at the person sitting across from them), a verbal reprimand (done by a bunch of teens called a "Dealing Crew" who reviewed names and told them to come knock), a blast (Between a higher ranked student and a lower ranked one), or the worst one: A general meeting (where a staff member put a broom 4 inches away from the recipient's toes, and told people to "get their feelings off, by that I mean scream obscenities at the recipient).

Overall, Elan being considered "awful" is like saying a tsunami is just a splash of water: A complete understatement.

My dad was worst yet loved me so i grew up not really caring for detailed work and can washa whole suv in 10 minutes flat
