Your name is Jason Vong and fear is not a factor for you!

Good work pushing yourself to do this!

This is my nightmare, so I bought a 85mm.

I can feel that Jason, I suffer severe social anxiety too and the street photography is my current therapy. Be strong, you're not alone!!!

Instead of whispering - I scream in their faces. 0% success rate so far, but I’m sticking with it.

(Just yesterday; actual conversation...)
Him (guy on bicycle): Did you take my picture?
Me: Yes. Want me to delete it?
Him: Yes!
Me: Done!
Him: Wait! Can I pose?
Me: Sure...
(Photo taken)
That's street photography, Baby!!
(The photo came out great)

OK, I need an explanation and demo and video of how you connected your camera to your phone.

Your positive energy resonates. People can pick up on it. You’re always smiling, making people feel welcomed or ok to be in your space. Good stuff bro!

As a person that's so socially awkward, this is a big struggle for me, I'm slowly overcoming it though and this video gave me some confidence!

You mean none of them knows who you are? I would be honored and ask for an autograph or a selfie together LOL.

You know what would be dope and different? Approaching strangers and let them take a photo of you. 😝

I think the difference between the touristy spots versus chess spot is that the former are people wanting to make memories and the latter just people who want to get on with their life and probably surprised by your invitation.

I salute you for trying and coming out of it mission accomplished - even in events that people are expected to be taken photos like car shows and cosfest, I still cant make that first step and just resorting to taking longer zoom 😢

Good job Jason! You challenged yourself and it's a lesson for all of us. It just happens that I am going to Korean in a few weeks in a family trip and of course I'll bring my camera to do some street photography there (including portraits). So this video already paves the way for me. Vivian is looking better than ever too.

Love from Japan.

Can we all appreciate the bravery of approaching strangers and ask them to take a picture of them?

I have personally done this and have been successful quite a few times. I think the most important thing is that you show confidence to people and be calm and collected. Don't give your intended subject any creepy vibes and show sincerity to them. I would also say not everyone will be your cup of tea, somehow there is always a kind of vibe and instinct that comes to you if a suitable subject comes your way.

Photographing another human is always difficult because of all the privacy concerns, that's why i would rather shoot wildlife.

Thanks Jason for being vulnerable for this video! I would be the same with my anxiety 😂😭

I've had the opposite happen to me (hello, fellow social anxiety sufferer here...). Last January I was in Oman and for some reason not many locals seem to have cameras but when I was walking around with my camera I got multiple requests of locals to take pictures of them. The same happened when I lived in China a few years ago as well. I'll be honest, these experiences have helped me deal with social anxiety...

This is soooo meee. Been trying to get out of this zone for more than a decade now. I always feel like I'm gonna creep them out instead

The whispering isn’t likely the best approach, go in with confidence.

I take that back, they have signs to be quiet 🤦‍♂️

Awesome video Jason.
