Wii Fit was so passive aggressive and I loved it for that. Nothing beats the shade the balance board throws at you when you step on it and all you hear is "OOOH".

I remember fat 15 year old me spending half an hour on those minigames every day to lose weight, and I remember how happy I was when I finally dropped from overweight down to healthy weight. That was great. Apparently the trainers grow their hair out if you play their yoga/strength training games often enough

Wii fit wasn’t meant to be a family game, it was meant to help people with body issues get in shape in a fun way.

If you were like a few pounds overweight your character looked like nicokado avocado

Lol in 2nd grade our teacher brought a balance to mesure our weight. Being the tallest kid got labeled fat kid cause i weighted the most. Only took me 30 yrs to know i wasn't obese

I’m sorry to have to be the one to point this out, but it’s a FITNESS game. It’s supposed to help you get fit. One way it does that is to check your weight so it can personalise the settings to suit a person.

On one hand, you praise fat acceptance and body positivity, and on the other, you dread having your weight displayed to you and others, and make it a dramatic problem.

The game doesn’t need to inflate your character like that, but when the cute wii voice tells you you’re obese, you are. So instead of buying Wii Fit just to drop the game for commenting on your weight, try PLAYING THE GAME. DO THE EXERCISES, BECOME A BETTER PERSON. And if you really don’t want to, FINE. But don’t knock the fitness game for being a fitness game.

the little “oh” the board would make when you stepped on 😂

Just like miyamoto said, it doesn’t show your weight, it shows your bmi.

If you’re traumatized by a scale calling you overweight when you are in fact overweight, the scale isn’t the problem.

If reality makes you cry, you need to change something in your life

What about having a number displaying reality is considered "torture"?

I mean, it's not like the rest of the family needed to see those numbers to realize you were fat

If you're traumatised by seeing your weight on a screen in the presence of other people you have much more significant problems than your weight. Try putting these issues into their proper context and perspective.

I think the actual issue here is the Japanese don’t understand the concept of being embarrassed by your weight.

istg people will buy a fitness game and get mad if it tells them they're unfit

Wii was the wake-up call their parents never gave them.

As someone who has been overweight her entire life, Wii Fit never really bothered me. It told me something that other forms of media, doctors and peers at school had already been telling me for years (and I was 12 when we got it for the first time).

Whenever I think of the obese mii character, I think of the girl yelling “mom”
