I downloaded your plans and ended up building something very similar to this, although I did change the design of the lower shelf. Overall this is a great-looking project that is pretty easy to make. I attached the top with figure eight fasteners instead of pocket holing and gluing the top - I would definitely recommend doing that, because the top can still expand and contract laterally with seasons. You are correct that 14" bottom-mount drawer slides would work with these dimensions - that's what I ended up doing.

I am so thankful for you posting this. I can diy many things and am always looking for ideas. My wife wanted me to build her nightstands with a drawer, but I havent built a drawer yet. Your instructions could jot be clearer and so easy to follow. One of the first plans i followed and it was so enjoyable to follow a “recipe” and just enjoy the process. I made one and will be making a video for our youtube to show the second one and will definitely be sharing your channel and your links because it was perfect.

@ 2:10 I think with the kreg jig you want to set your depth to the material you are drilling into. Then, select your screw length for the material you are screwing into. So, you still want to set your drill depth at 1 1/2", but since you are now screwing into 3/4", you will select an 1 1/4" screw instead of the 2 1/2". I hope that makes sense lol and thanks for the great video!

I like the design. Extend the bottom down by 1" and there is room for a second drawer for home defense items or jewelry.

In the blueprints I purchased, you recommend two additional pocket holes in each of the two lower 13" cross pieces (ostensibly to attach the lower shelf). In the video, no such pocket holes are shown, and in the alternative, it appears that you drilled pocket holes in the lower shelf to attach it to the cross pieces. Since the lower shelf fits within the inside perimeter to the lower cross-members, it seems that the way you demonstrate in the video is preferable to what is described in the blueprints. Do you agree?? Thanks.
