To right Boris, why should he give way to extremists, time to put a STOP to this rubbish. May is totally out of step with the people of the UK and needs to go.

Yes Boris the Buffoon.  A buffoon who has more intellect than the whole of the BBC/Labour party together. A buffoon who loves his country and has adopted a ancient British trait that will be a dark day in our history when we have no more like him. " Eccentricity " is a mark of intelligence and Boris is a master at the classics and a fantastic orator.   Sadly, he will be vilified for speaking the truth.

I find the burka to be extremely offensive.

If he apologises this time, I’m done with him. He should retract all of his apologies. We used to have a culture, understood by all. Offence is not in our cultural heritage.

I see no reason to condemn Boris's comments. He is just stating the obvious, there is a geometric similarity with a letter box, The way these women move gliding apparently legless across the high street, I think they look like Daleks. Had he been arguing the case for banning the burka on the grounds that it covers the face and therefore represents a security risk, no one would have been able to object, as a number of EU states have already taken this measure. One might suspect that there maybe an ulterior motive in the burka bans across Europe, is the create a hostile environment for the most Zenith Muslims. In this respect the burka ban is very clever, in that by inclusion of all face coverings, such crash helmets, it makes objection to the law very difficult.
I think it is a matter of freedom of speech that strange clothes worn in public should be open to comment. There would not have been any reaction if he had written about Goth or Punk clothing with their associated metal piercings. In the west, the burka is not only seen as an example of religious affectation but also as a political uniform, and as such is seen by some as threating as the leather jackets uniforms warn by the teenage motorbike rockers of the 1960s.
It is worth note that the article written by Boris Johnson made a point of not calling for a ban on the burka, as this was against the British principle of freedom of expression and religion. A philosophy of life and let live. Should the same freedom not also apply to speech, when presented with outlandish garb on British streets. When the mini skirt appeared, were the general population forbidden to comment, less it offended the women involved?

What would the reaction be if men started wearing balaclavas out in public. May is weak leader and appeaser for Islam.

I'm a revert to Islam and part time Irish niqabi, I don't personally think what Boris said was offensive. Nothing worse than what my Catholic grandmother has said to me in the past 😂 I don't know why we all care so much about the clothing of women. Leave it to women to decide. He only said it to put himself back in the news and get people who are against Islam in general on his side. And it is NOT RACIST to hate burka or niqab. Muslims aren't a race, they are from every part of the globe. It's a religion, not a skin colour.

Islam is currently 4.4% of the UK population. Of that, less than 1% wears the burkha. And this is a big issue
