Arctic Char 🐟: Northern most fish

Показать описание
Arctic char, also known by its scientific name Salvelinus alpinus, is a fish that novice anglers frequently mistake for salmon or trout. Although they belong to the same family and share some traits, the arctic char is a distinctive species. The farthest northerly freshwater fish is the arctic char. This hardy cold-water fish is the only one that lives in some mountain lakes. On top, they are normally dark grey or brown, with an eye-catching underside that might be red or yellow.
While big arctic fish can grow up to 35 inches long, dwarf arctic char can only reach a length of 3 inches.
Males and females are the same size.
The arctic char is sometimes referred to as "the most variable vertebrate on earth" due to the numerous variants found in various habitats.
Arctic char don't have particular food preferences. They devour whatever adequate food comes their way since they are opportunists.
Males protect their territory and mate with several females while mating.
