$40 to $400! Painting MCM Laminate Dresser - Easy Furniture Flip Tutorial!

As for steps… Here’s what I did:
+ got this dresser for $40 off of facebook marketplace
+ took off peeling veneer
+ scuff sanded the body (laminate) with 100 grit, the drawers with 180 grit!
+ used epoxy putty to remold the corners
+ applied 2 coats of primer
+ applied 3 coats of a dark navy paint (lightly sanded with 220 grit in between coats)
+ applied furniture finish oil to the drawers which were walnut veneer
+ sealed the body with waterbased polyurethane (not pictured)
Since this dresser had some water damage to the corners, was made of laminate & didn’t contain a makers mark… I will only be charging around $400 once I list this dresser! I get a lot of questions about how I determine pricing & hopefully that will help answer a few questions :) But if you have any more… drop them below! ✨✨👇🏼👇🏼

I never thought I would find furniture attractive but damn, that’s a sexy dresser.

ooo that is so pretty wow!!! i love that you kept some of the wood look instead of just painting over the entire thing like a lot of people do, and the walnut and blue match so well!!

The colors are on point - nostalgic, classy and modern. Very well done!

I love that you are showing people that reviving old furniture is well worth the time and effort. They have so much character.

Love the touch of vases & artwork all from the same vintage as the buffet.

I have this dresser from when I was a kid, it's still in my bedroom. I think my mom bought it back in 1970 used from a yard sale.

I normally don't like painted woodwork, but this so fab.

You have a really good eye for making MCM into pieces that work in "contemporary" decor.

Oh dang that turned out absolutely beautiful. Your videos make me think I should try my hand at fixing some of my stuff that my cats have chewed on.

Nice job considering I’m usually against painting these sorts of pieces…sometimes you can’t avoid it though! Looks great 😊This looks like a Dixie Brand dresser that my Grandparents had here in Florida when I was a very young child in the early 70’s. They’d had the set since the mid 50’s in the spare room…what I wouldn’t give to have most of the furniture they had then…all but a handful of pieces in that 4 bedroom 2 bath house were MCM, the others were antiques.
