I'm very happy you made this video! This sh*t needs more exposure. I made a macro warning about bots, how they harm the game and how prevalent they are, and I've been able to educate a lot of people on how to recognize and report them. Sadly, my personal crusade against bots seems to have little to no effect. Content creators such as yourself have a great platform at their disposal to really make a difference, and I applaud your initiative!

I played in a private server before. I truly felt heard and respected by the administrators there, and I know for a fact my reports lead to several banned bots there. The case for WoW Classic is really the polar opposite. It's no excuse to say "private servers were small and easy to handle" since their staff consisted ENTIRELY of free volunteers, and the servers still had tens (if not HUNDREDS) of thousands of players and they still managed to deal with it for free. Blizzard has the ability to actually hire moderators, so they should be able to deal with it even better. I'm truly baffled by their incompetence...

This game is great, but it really is getting destroyed by bots. There are some bots that have operated practically non-stop for MONTHS on end in my server of Gehennas-EU, and these bots actively flood the auction house with their illegitimately obtained goods. There are bots who don't even farm for their own personal in-game gain, but they seem to do it professionally, and I strongly suspect they're feeding the gold selling market.

Since it may not be immediately obvious how bots can hurt the game, here's a small list of the ways they destroy Classic (in no particular order):
1. Bots can control the auction house with their stockpiles of "farmed" items. You'll sell less yourself, and anything you buy from bots actively supports their trade, and thus their ability to monopolize strengthens.
2. They de-incentivize players from farming. People will buy botted items, and the bots will sell that gold causing the value of gold to lower, and the price of items to rise.
3. Since bots are so ubiquitous and seem to receive no penalties, tons of "real players" will want to start botting themselves in order to compete with bots for resources.
4. Battlegrounds are full of bots. If a bot can keep queueing 24/7, they'll actually gain a LOT of artificial honor, and this will demotivate real players and PvP will slowly start to die.
5. Bots compete for open world resources. They mine, fish, gather herbs, kill quest mobs and farm mobs with valuable loot tables.
6. Bots hurt the integrity of the game. We're paying for this shit, and they're allowing cheating?!
7. Gold sellers use bots to obtain gold to sell. The more there are, the more gold they'll be able to sell, and the more it will destroy the economy and integrity of the realm/game.
8. Seeing the same bot online for weeks on end despite multiple reports is a real slap in the face. You'll feel mistreated, disrespected and ignored by Blizzard, and you will no longer want to support them in any way.
9. Some bots are used just for leveling, and usually by players who suck at the game in every way. Once they reach level 60, they'll perform extremely poorly in all dungeons and cause problems. I suspect a tank in one of my LBRS groups had botted himself to 60 and he had absolutely no idea what he was doing -- needless to say, the run went very poorly.
10. Bots make the game feel sleazy.
11. The presence of bots unveil Blizzard's lackadaisical approach to moderation.
12. The more bots there are, the more real players will want to quit.
13. Some players are botting for their own gain. This will give them an unfairly obtained advantage over real players.
14. The community will become sour and annoyed, and the entire atmosphere of the game will shift into negativity. I've recently started seeing people complaining about bots, and these discussions generally lead to more negativity.

I would gladly spend an hour a day moderating this game for bots. I already spend a few minutes every single day reporting confirmed bots, so why not actually do it?

Bots are a plague now, I see around 5 on each zone while leveling...

If blizzard said *NOW HIRING BOT BANNERS* i'd quit my day time job <3 I personally have not noticed bots but i don't understand what blizzard do in their HQ anymore since this is an issue that will grow.

As a resto druid, I have embraced the bots, for you can tag a mob they're about to attack and they'll still kill it. Free farming partner!

Sadly the regulars I've spent the last two weeks doing that with in between AV queues have started catching on, so after a set number of mobs are tagged they hearth away. No bans for any of them *yet* and it's so damn obvious.

While open world bots are messing up some of the economy(golden pearls for instance), right now there's a shitload of PvP botters that would be great to see get dropped out of the pool for us rankers.

My favorite thing with hunter bots is making their pets run away due to unhappiness. :)

Btw bro, when you said if someone used the excuse "it was my little cousin on my account" well if someone said that than they just openly admitted to breaking terms of service and account sharing... ban their ass

I actually still remember how I successfully reported bots around 10 years ago 😂

Blizz logic: Lets allow a bot to give us 15usd a month and lose another 15 usd a month from someone who actually wanted to play the game and quit because of bots.

It's insane how many bots I face everyday in both AV and WSG, we even send a ticket to blizzard about a specific bot that was rank 11, afking in AV, Blizzard send a generic answer and did nothing, so what we did, we made a grp with a warlock and de-ranked the bot down to rank 8. The only way to face bots is as players now since Blizzard doesn't care at all sadly.

It's depressing how much they just completely ignore reporting bots. They straight up don't even respond or do anything about it. You will see the same bot running around, spamming in trade chat, yelling, moving in a completely fake way... Blizzard just doesn't care is the harsh truth. You're right, it makes them money. I think we need to learn how to just fuck with the bots in-game. There has to be some way to ruin the script or just get it stuck.

I found a bot around level 40 farming the Desolace shrimp quest, for a month straight I kept coming back to the spot to check if they were there and then reported them. I even told others to report them. After a month I stopped caring but as far as I know nothing happened.

Thank you for doing this, I'm so tired of that shi** totally unfair to the game and we the players who pay for this game to watch some idiot just botting around or multi-boxing with no restriction

Update from 4 months later: I recently got into classic due to time off work and leveled a priest on Earthfury. At least 50% of the other characters I see in the open world leveling zones are bots, probably closer to 75%. Many quests have been very difficult to complete due to hordes of same faction bots soaking up the mobs (Raptor quests in arathi for example). I have reported the same bots multiple times week after week and it doesn't have any effect. I love this game and it has a very special place in my heart but seeing so much rampant unpunished cheating really does put a damper on it. Blizzard could easily handle this with either a handful of paid staff or more advanced detection software. Loosing money, even a small amount, in exchange for the increased integrity of their product is apparently not in their interest.
