Thanks for this interview, Erik. I, too, just want the truth and don’t understand the point of fighting so hard for fragments that have almost no significance in the grand scheme of things, especially if they really are forgeries, which seems to be the case. I feel like they are missing a golden opportunity to build trust by showing that they will follow where the evidence leads rather than pushing an agenda.

Regarding "dunking on each other". I think it fine, providing you can come together afterwards for a beer. Most people are simply trying to be honest and work out their own path through life. Hence, being able to come together and have that beer is important.

Edit: It's interesting to me that one of the mentiined forgeries is drawing from the Masoretic Text. Since the Dead Sea Scrolls are known to be older than the Masoretic Text, this seems very anachronistic.

It would be nice to see more Christians seek out scholars who are not theists. Historically, the vast majority of Biblical scholars have been overtly or subtly biased in favor of confirming their beliefs. To avoid skewed perceptions, study historians, not theologians. More importantly, historians whose only skin in the game is the truth and not validation.
