The correct answer is A – peering.
‘Peer’ means to look at something for a long time with intent. So the person on the bus was looking intently at the stuff in Sarah’s teeth.

I didn't know peer can also be used as a verb!! When peer is used as a noun it refers to people around you, especially when in a context of school. (I hope I recall it correctly) I peered at the video trying to learn three words about seeing. 😆
