Ellen DeGeneres admitted that being branded the 'most hated person in America' was a huge blow to her ego and turned her into a recluse - as she kicked off her comeback stand-up comedy tour in West Hollywood on Wednesday.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show went off the air in 2022 after 19 seasons on NBC following the toxic workplace scandal that tarnished her reputation as TV's favorite host.
In 2020, DeGeneres, 66, was accused by former show employees of fostering an environment that tolerated alleged bullying, racism and sexual harassment by execs and one in which she reigned supreme.

Pre video: Never liked Ellen. Never understood why anyone did. Same as most US talkshow hosts. Gave off spiteful, petty James Cordon-ish vibes. The so-called “niceness” only ever seemed skin-deep to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Post video: Wow! She made me like her even less! 😂 I want to praise her for the parts where she takes responsibility and owns up to things, but I can’t because it feels like she’s saying “the right thing” without understanding why it’s right. There’s no compassion, empathy or remorse.
The fact that she equates her Mom losing her faculties with herself losing popularity is disgusting. She makes it about herself too! “My Mom doesn’t recognise *Me*” That’s painful for *Me*. Not “I wish I could look after my Mom better, as she’s struggling so much and I would give anything to make her better”. To make matters worse, Ellen only brings up her partner when asked by the audience, then uses her for sympathy instead of thanking her for the support she’s shown through a difficult period in her life. She’s a selfish jerk who can’t see past the end of her own nose!
As for being an “immature boss” that doesn’t excuse her behaviour. It’s long been said that you should be nice to people on the way up because you never know who you’re going to meet on the way back down.
