HIKING EASTERN OLYMPIC PENINSULA | WASHINGTON

Показать описание
📍 Falls View Canyon
Difficulty - Easy
Miles - 2.1
Elevation Gain - 419 ft
Rating - 5/10
Our first stop on the Eastern Olympic Pennisula was Falls View Canyon. When I checked this out on AllTrails, it said it had a waterfall and was only about 300 ft of gain. That was for the trail in the canyon, not the overlook where you can actually see the waterfall. That trail is to the right of this one. We looped them all together and got a nice little bonus hike in. The waterfall itself is very thin, but the tallest of the bunch yesterday. Cool, little stop. Oh, we also camped here (Falls View Campground) and hiked this straight from our site.
📍 Rocky Brook Falls
Difficulty - Easy
Miles - 0.5
Elevation Gain - 70 ft
Rating - 8/10
Our first adventure the next morning was Rocky Brook Falls. This is another really easy and short hike to a tall and wide waterfall. Park and then cross the street and go alongside the hydro facility. This is my second favorite fall of the Olympic National Park, right behind sol duc.
📍 Murhut Falls
Difficultly - Easy
Miles - 1.9
Elevation Gain - 414 ft
Rating - 7/10
The second stop of the day? Yep, another waterfall! This one was a double fall in a foggy wooded canyon. Very cool! Plus, we got to see another banana slug. SLUG SLUG SLUG!
📍 Staircase Rapids Loop
Difficulty - Easy
Miles - 2.7
Elevation Gain - 223 ft
Rating - 7/10
Our last hike of the day was in the southeast part of the park. This loop takes you along the north fork of the Skokomish River. The water flows down several small falls and has a beautiful gatorade blue color. There is a very cool suspension bridge when you turn to go back, and we also saw our 5th banana slug of the trip! 😁👍🏻
