The idea wasn't "Don't be fat" it was "Look like a fat woman". 10/10 love this explanation.

To answer the question of why you cannot eat for 12 hours before surgery. Anesthesia stops all the autonomic functions of the body. The anesthesiologist makes sure your HR, BP, and everything else you don’t think about are regulated. Well, this includes the gastric muscles. When you’re under anesthesia, they relax completely and stop doing their function. Which means that if you had food or liquid in your stomach, those contents will seep up past your gastric sphincter and it can drown your lungs in your digestive juices. This is fatal. There is a VERY GOOD REASON why you cannot eat or drink. Disobeying this is life threatening. People have done it and lied and it has resulted in death or serious long term injury. Don’t destroy your lungs. Don’t drown. Follow the rules. It’s for your safety everyone.

Always so appreciative of Brie's willingness to do something as big and vulnerable as sharing pieces of her transition with us.

I’m sure Brie has people in her life already saying this, but just a reminder to everyone watching this that she doesn’t owe us anything.
It’s amazing that she’s sharing these experiences with us and it’s definitely educational, but transition is such a personal thing that none of us are entitled to content of.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m so glad that she’s shared this - as a trans person myself it’s so wonderful to see trans people celebrating these milestones especially with supportive partners/friends/community - but a reminder that if she chose not to talk about these things on the internet that would be absolutely fine too!
Very happy for you Brie!

When Brie is less swollen and more settled in her body we'll do cute outfit pics in her new bod! Also we are moderating these comments so be cool! UPDATE: if you see anyone using this content to make a transphobic video, let us know!

The forced feeding of Gatorade is peek love. You can tell the love and support they both have for each other. Bries smile at the end was literally the cutest thing.

Trans man being cool here, and I just wanna say that even if you end up needing revision, you will be fine. I promise! I know loads of people expect us to radiate joy after surgery, but sometimes all we want is to feel peace, so I truly hope you get that, and that you heal well and quickly. <3 Congrats.

I remember when Brie first came out and now she’s crossing this huge milestone!! It’s like being along for the ride. Brie seems like such a sweet sassy gentle soul and I wish her nothing but happiness from this experience

As a part of the LGBTQ+ Community, this means so much to me. It means a lot because it's a glimpse into this type of experience. Thank you so much for sharing this Brie! I wish you so much love and happiness!

2 liters of liquid drained!?!?! Woahh that's crazy to think about. The human body is so resilient. Brie, you're really brave to go through all of this.

Trans man being cool, if by "cool" you mean "crying tears of joy at seeing the love between two humans who love each other" or "sobbing at the love and support" or "sniffling at seeing someone breaking barriers and becoming the person she was meant to be"

So happy for Brie <3

I had a breast reduction a few years ago and the feeling of waking up from surgery and knowing I didn't have giant titties anymore was just the best. I'm so so happy for you, Brie!!

"That's for something else." I love Brie's cheekiness.

I'm trans masculine and my top surgery was my first major surgery! My saving grace that morning was the anti-anxiety cocktail they gave me once my IV was in, because I was absolutely just panicking. I had a really rough recovery for 8 days before my drains were removed, but I would not change my decision and would go through it again. My quality of life is so much better. It's incredible what gender confirmation surgery can do!

nearly started sobbing when kristen mentioned the necklace was a thank you gift. as an indigenous person, receiving such beautiful beadwork is SUCH a sweet gesture. brie looks beautiful and i love seeing the joy and comfort emanating off her in this video! us trans people are so lucky to have so much love for one another, it’s truly a gift.

I LOVE when Brie surprises Kristen like when she jokes about tying her to the wall and Brie says “no that’s for something else” 😂 Wishing Brie a continued speedy recovery!

I'm happy for you Brie, but I do have one addendum to what Kristen said. Just because you've received anesthesia before didn't mean you'll always be fine getting it. I've had guaranteed well over 30 procedures since I was 11 (I'm 35 now) and just a few months ago I went in for a procedure that I've had MANY times and something went wrong with the anesthesia and I had to be shocked and I was in a medically induced coma and intubated for 2 weeks, and was in the ICU for a total of 25 days. My dominant side is still suffering, my handwriting is still really bad, I needed a walker up until a few weeks ago, and I'm still having balance issues, plus stepping down off of things like sidewalks I have to do very carefully and a certain way because there's a chance my legs might buckle. I'm very grateful I didn't suffer anything worse. I'm glad you had a good experience with it and you seem to be doing well, I just wanted to make sure people understand that you take a risk everytime you get anesthesia.

I just wanted to say thank you, as a young trans man it's really uplifting to see older trans people living their best lives. Especially coming from a rural town, it's incredible seeing trans people just existing and being themselves. Hope your healing journey is speedy and without complications. Go Brie!

As a fellow trans person, congrats on the gender affirming surgery, Brie! Sidenote: Kristen looks really good with bangs.
