Grammar is typically taught as a list of rules. Unfortunately, lists are hard to remember and students rarely get much time to practice using the different rules naturally in conversations.

Round 1 -- The Past!

Yesterday, John went to a grocery store. He bought some bread and milk, and paid the cashier. Then he fought a dragon and played the piano.

Round 2 -- The Future!

In three days, John will go to a grocery store. He'll buy some bread and milk, and pay the cashier. Then he'll fight a dragon and play the piano.

Round 3 -- The Present!

John's at a grocery store. He's buying some bread and milk, and paying the cashier. Now he's fighting a dragon and playing the piano.

Round 4 -- The Past with REAL English!

Yesterday, John dropped by the grocery store. He picked up some bread and milk, and paid the cashier. Then he battled a dragon and ticked the ivories.

Final Round -- Native Speed!

Yesterday, John went to a grocery store. He bought some bread and milk, and paid the cashier. Then he fought a dragon and played the piano.

Great work! Grammar can be fun and simple to learn when you study it the NATURAL way! We call this kind of grammar practice "anchoring" because it allows your brain to relax and focus on what is DIFFERENT between similar stories. YOU focus on the MEANING of the sentences and your brain understands how the rules of grammar change automatically. Make sense?

Most students study COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SENTENCES when learning grammar, so it's much harder for the brain to anchor in order to connect and contrast what you're learning. Smart students anchor and understand grammar the natural way by remixing it!
