Why did Optimus tell Megatron to take the High Guard and leave Iacon? Some theories suggest that Optimus knew they might rebel someday. As we've seen, they follow strength, not wisdom. That’s why Optimus gave Megatron the choice.

I think the main reason why the high guard were banished with Megatron is because they on board with him in destroying the city and conquering Cybertron plus Starscream, Soundwave, and Shockwave joined him in the fight against Optimus Prime.

pretty sure it’s because starscream, soundwave, and shockwave all fought against optimus for a moment in an effort to assist megatron in the final battle

My theory is the reason why he told him to take the high guard and leave is because he knew that the high guard would cause trouble in icon
