Mercedes E320 what to do when the trunk doesn't open

One day my 1999 Mercedes E 320 trunk wouldn't open. I couldn't find a way to open it on the internet so I decided to make this video. I hope this is helpful.

By switching the trunk actuation air hose with the door lock hoses I was able to open my trunk with no problems.

Keep in mind my door locks work as does my gas tank access.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO, I am a mechanic with well over 50 years experience and have work on a variety of cars, I have never seen this setup using air to open locks, it would have taken me ages to figure this out had it not been for your video, I did exactly what you did and now everything works fine.

I had the same problem with my 02 e320. Trunk wouldn't open at all. I followed this video. Took the trunk lock out and come to find out my trunk light was out and the clip was causing a short. Fixed the wires and attached the clip. Now all is good. So check your trunk light before anything.

This worked perfectly for me. Afterwards i reconnected the airlines back to normal and now everything works as expected. I guess something got clogged in the trunk airline and the door lock line works with more pressure? Dunno but thank you!

Just another person to thank you for this video. It may be 9 years old and the cars in question over 20 years old but it helped me open the trunk after a bumper removal which made the switch think the trunk was open.

Thanks....so much. I attached my metal key to a vicegrip, turned it gently counterclock wise, whilst pushing it in. It didn't work at first, then it set off my alarm. After turning the alarm off with my keyfob, I tried it again, then pulled the interior trunk pop and yippey... it opened. I then lubricated it with silicone spray, popped the trunk a few more times to work it in and make sure it was still working. Now I am poring myself a beer.... What a I had the beer and frozen groceries in the trunk. Thanks.. Youtube and everyone who helped make this happen Sculpin Grapefruit IPA now you are mine. Cheers!

Thanks a lot ! I had my keys trapped inside the trunk because of your trick I was able to open it just by pressing de locks button in the dashboard.

Use the manual key, but first use a lot of wd40, leave it overnight. Remember you have never used the manual key since day one so its definitely corroded inside. Use a vice grip with your key and gently turn left to right. Once you have succesfully turned the key left to right, while turning counterclockwise press the key forward and it will open.
