For a moment he felt good, making the kid smile.

Everyone saying they wanna give him a hug and how they feel sorry for him etc but If this was real life u wouldn’t even pay attention to him you’d think he’d be crazy and you’d look at him weird exactly what these people in the movie did to him

1:57 Just realised - those steps are portrayed as blue and gloomy, and he's all sad and depressed. Yet the famous scene towards the end where he dances down them - it's all bright and warm colours, and he's as happy as can be. Nicely directed

When you realize that kid was the only one Arthur made laugh.

Felt so bad for him. You know that he was good and kind-hearted, until people broke him.

0:12 Aw, the little boy was mirroring Arthur's stern, depressive face. That's probably what made Arthur cheer up a little.

Seeing a kid smile like that made Arthur happy for a split second because it was a reminder of something he never felt as a kid. This movie truly shows what mental and physical abuse can do to a person.

For some reason his laugh evokes a sense of sadness and despair.

The worst thing about life isn't death, it's the things that die in us while we're still alive.

I remember seeing this for the first time in the cinemas and feeling his pain watching him walk up them stairs. This movie spoke to me on a personal level and I know it did for many others out there.

This is one of the most depressing movies of all time.

It’s so upsetting that his laugh actually means he’s crying, the kid was literally giggling and the lady thinks he’s bothering him, u don’t even know how to parent ur kid

1:52 I love how the camera tilts up to make the illusion that he is actually going down the stairs. It seems to resemble the fact he's fighting an uphill battle whilst spiralling downward into insanity

The card was laminated, and it had"Kindly return this Card".
Many must have certainly destroyed or didn't return it.
Imagine living like that

JP's act in the bus is epic. I felt so sorry for Arthur the way that lady snapped at him. The lady is the society itself.

This scene nearly perfectly ressembles how society treats Arthur. Arthur wants to make the kid (world) happy and alive, but the woman (society) is disgusted by him.
