Nice one Jeff, very cool. The Godfather II is one of those rare instances of a sequal equaling, and for some people, even surpassing, the original. Pacino really did make Michael Corleone all his own in this film. Take care my friend, hope you're well, and speak to you soon.

A masterful sequel that in my opinion, enhances an already great original... I can't think of any other sequel that has managed that.

I saw this on the big screen last year (along with the original and the third film) and Gordon Willis' indelible cinematography and lighting is still sublime to look at and wallow in...

I've got to give an honorable mention to Robert Duvall! Watching the films last year, it made me realize how much I love Tom Hagen. He's my favorite character in the series and his lack of involvement in Godfather III does... Well, we'll get there ;-)

Hi Jeff,
A great sequel, i do prefer the first movie because i miss the Sonny Corleone character & also Marlon Brando"s performance of The Don, but with that missing gap we have Robert De Niro"s epic & deserving Academy Award portrayal of a young Vito in his rise to power, i also feel that Robert Duvall & John Cazale was overlooked at times with the focal point on Pacino & De Niro throughout the movie.
They really captured Sicillian feel really well in the movie & also the early days of Vito in America making it very authentic, & despite Pacino being the main lead, De Niro steals the show for me & then afterwards became a rising great actor in a string of performances to establish to being a acting great.
I"ve always felt that this movie deserved more Academy awards then it actually won, another fine review buddy.
