"Reach for my hand - and the race is won.
Reject my hand - and the damage is done."
It's as simple as that. And yet so complicated.

There's absolutely no one like Morrissey. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but then again most people are absolute bores as we know.

A seminal comeback concert in Manchester on his birthday in 2004. I was privileged to be there. Can't believe 10 years ago already!

Such a great song. I like the half-tucked shirt. Not many can pull it off, but of course M can pull most anything off that others can't. And I like how this was kind of what I considered his first real blunt admission of a sort of coming out.. "Pretty Girls Make Graves" sorta hinted at it, this made it pretty obvious, "Dear God Please Help Me" made it unquestionably clear. Yes, I know he's said that he likes both sexes, but I think we all know from Autobiography that his major loves seemed to be mostly men.. And this song confirmed what we all really knew already, and I for one couldn't be prouder. It was time for him to embrace who he was. The wild man in his head.
I've seen him 8 times and I desperately need to see him again. I'd die to be able to go see the YATQ shows in California next month but it's not financially feasible for me. This song, and that album, are really a man getting comfortable with himself and showing it to the world. I still love him, there's still nobody like him. Viva Moz.

Lyrics
On returning, I can't believe this world is still turning, The pressure's on, Because the pleasure hasn't gone
And I'm, Not sorry for, For the things I've done
And I'm, Not looking for, Just anyone
On competing, Oh, when will this tired heart stop beating?,
It's all a game, Existence is only a game
And I'm, Not sorry for, For the things I've done
And I'm, Not looking for, Just anyone
I'm, Slipping below the water line, I'm, Slipping below the water line
Reach for my hand, And, And the race is won
Reject my hand, And, The damage is done
I'm, Slipping below the water line
I'm, Slipping below the water line
The woman of my dreams, She, She never came along
The woman of my dreams, Well, There never was one
And I'm, Not sorry for, For the things I've said
There's a wild man in my head, There's a wild man In my head
Songwriters: Steven Morrissey / Martin James Boorer
