Building a Woodland Cabin with Plastic Wrap | Wood Stove | Survival Project | Bushcraft Shelter

In this episode I continue building the woodland cabin by adding a roof, walls and then installing a wood stove before cooking up some food in a cast iron skillet.
The tools used so far for this project are: A knife, saw, axe and some plastic wrap. As you will see in the episode, I was extremely surprised with the amount of heat the thin walls were able to keep in.
As mentioned in the video, this isn't the type of shelter I would usually build in a woodland, but I just had to give it a go! The plastic wrap will eventually be recycled.

What do you think about this type of shelter? Please let me know.

This is like when I go to the bakery and can see all the pastries through the clear displays. Now Bears can do the same thing here.

This would make a fantastic green house for growing plants.

This is a good idea if you were homeless and needed somewhere for shelter from the weather and somewhere to sleep and survive, it beats being completely ass'ed out with nowhere to go when times are hard you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. and i think this is a pretty good temporary shelter it can protect you from rain, snow, wind, bugs if you know how to do it right and seal it properly. Its better than nothing.

I like that you didn't cut down a lot of big trees for building a shelter. Thank you for not destroying it.

I can barely get the plastic wrap to cover leftovers without getting all messed up-lol Very Interesting.

Step 1: Find 4 perfectly spaced trees of ideal diameter on perfectly level terrain.
Step 1.5: Keep looking.

The good thing about this build is that, nowadays you can find plastic anywhere in nature. It's always nice to have an easy access to materials :)

I did this back in the late 60's for a temporary deer camp to sleep four men and it worked extremely well and I used the technique for years afterward...from Texas

When you wrapped the outside, go one wrap around fully, then add a thin Pole up beside the trees you wrapped already and wrap again so it spaces the wrap one more layer out for 2 layer walls.

Any time you could make a pizza in a dutch oven. Oil pan, stretch out the dough, add more oil to the top, or use sauce. Season the crust with garlic & onion powder and parm. Topping ideas include caramelized onions with goat cheese, your choice/liking on a mushroom, roasted pine nuts, or a protein of choice. Bake it up and top it with a balsamic reduction with other common seasonings to taste.

Amazing how those four trees grew exactly in the right spot where they're needed!

Saran/cling/pallet wrap makes an excellent greenhouse patch. It does keep the warm air in as long as you do not have any large holes in the wrong place. A hole in the wrong area will allow cooler air infiltration, which would lower the temperature very quickly on a cool night.

I remember going on a school nature retreat and the old man guide said he used plastic wrap for his shelters. It makes a lot of sense. It's easy to do and traps a whole lot of heat. IDK why but that guy has stuck with me my entire life. Cool to see someone else teaching people about this.
